Brighten your smile safely by up to several shades.
Professional teeth whitening, or clinical bleaching, is one of the most popular and immediate non-invasive cosmetic dental treatments available. Over time, teeth can lose their natural brightness due to age, genetic factors, or the accumulation of extrinsic stains from colored pigments in coffee, tea, red wine, dark sodas, and tobacco. In addition, intrinsic stains can develop deep within the dentin layer of the tooth due to certain medications, trauma, or excess fluoride during tooth development. While over-the-counter whitening products only address superficial surface stains, clinical-grade teeth whitening utilizes highly concentrated whitening gels activated by specialized laser light to deep-bleach the teeth, safely shifting the tooth color by several shades within a single, controlled session. UNDERSTANDING THE CHEMICAL OXIDATION PROCESS: The clinical whitening process is based on a chemical reaction known as oxidation. The primary active ingredient in professional bleaching gels is hydrogen peroxide (or carbamide peroxide, which breaks down into hydrogen peroxide). When applied to the tooth surface, the peroxide molecules safely penetrate the porous structure of the enamel and reach the underlying dentin layer. There, they break down into oxygen free radicals, which target and dissolve the complex, dark carbon compound chains that cause discoloration. By breaking these large staining compounds into smaller, colorless molecules, the natural white appearance of the teeth is restored without altering the structural integrity of the enamel. THE CRITICAL ROLE OF GUM PROTECTION: Because clinical-grade whitening gels contain high concentrations of active bleaching agents, protecting the surrounding soft tissues is a critical first step. Prior to applying the gel, our clinical specialists perform a thorough dental cleaning to remove plaque and calculus, ensuring the gel contacts the teeth evenly. We then apply a specialized liquid gingival dam along the gum line, which is cured using a blue light to form a solid, protective silicone-like barrier. This dam completely isolates the gums from the teeth, preventing any contact with the bleaching gel and eliminating the risk of chemical burns, tissue irritation, or gum sensitivity. LASER ACTIVATION & SESSION CYCLES: Once the protective barrier is in place and the whitening gel is applied to the front surface of the teeth, we activate the whitening process using a specialized cold-laser LED light. This specific wavelength of blue light acts as a catalyst, accelerating the breakdown of the hydrogen peroxide and allowing the oxygen radicals to penetrate the tooth structure more rapidly and deeply. The treatment is typically divided into three to four consecutive cycles of 15 minutes each. Between each cycle, the old gel is gently removed and replaced with a fresh coat, allowing our clinical team to monitor the progress and achieve maximum brightness while minimizing tooth sensitivity. POST-TREATMENT HYPERSENSITIVITY & THE 'WHITE DIET': It is common to experience mild, temporary tooth sensitivity for 12 to 24 hours after a professional whitening session. This happens because the bleaching process temporarily opens up the microscopic tubules (pores) within the dentin, exposing the nerves to temperature changes. We apply a soothing desensitizing gel immediately after the procedure to rehydrate the teeth and calm the nerves. During the first 48 hours, the enamel pores remain receptive and vulnerable to new pigments. To maintain your results, it is absolutely essential to follow the 'white diet' during this critical window: avoid colored beverages (coffee, tea, red wine), dark sauces (soy sauce, tomato sauce), curry, chocolate, and tobacco.
Clinical Procedure
Pre-evaluation: Cleaning the teeth and checking for active cavities or gum issues.
Gingival Protection: Applying a liquid dam barrier to isolate and protect the soft gums.
Gel Application: Coating the teeth with professional hydrogen peroxide gel.
Laser Activation: Exposing the gel to blue cold-laser light for 15-minute cycles to boost the whitening power.
Key Advantages
Results are visible instantly after a single 45-minute treatment
Up to 4-8 shades of brightening
Safe clinical materials that protect your tooth enamel
Non-invasive, highly budget-friendly smile upgrade
The White Diet
Avoid colored foods and drinks (red wine, coffee, tea, tomato sauces) and tobacco for the first 48 hours after treatment, as the enamel pores are temporarily receptive to restaining.
